MOTHERING A GIRL When that precious baby you now hold looks up to her mother will she behold grace, joy and patience, trust and love? Will she learn she's more precious; or more costly than gold? God has chosen YOU to help her grow, it's up to you what she will know of how to be a godly woman how to face the storms of life How to lie in this dominion and how to be a godly wife We speak to our daughters in the things that we DO! From your actions she chooses to be, or not be, like you. Don't hold her too tightly else she cannot grow Or loosen your touch on her life when she needs you. You'll know. It's the tone of your voice in the words that you say that help her or hinder on her testing day. So while she's still tiny and fits in your arms is the time to be honing your womanly charms. Accept or reject it; this fact is still true The example God gave her of womanhood is YOU! Touch her gently young mother and gentle she'll be for as the twig is bent, so grows the tree. And when she becomes mother with child of her own She'll be the mother you taught her a childhood ago. For though few admit it, 'tis still true, you will see we each are the mom our mom taught us to be.

Through Your Eyes The day I first held you in my arms, and looked into your eyes I knew you were trusting and depending on me. A child knows when love surrounds them and they flourish. You grew and bloomed right before my eyes in what seems like moments. You took me back through my childhood as we played together. Your questions that never ceased made me search for answers. One day you were looking up at me in awe, sure that I was and always would be the focus of your young life. Then came a time when you tested your wings and felt that I was standing in your way and I tried to release my protection slowly. Now grown and a woman with your own mind. Working through the problems of life as they approach you all at once or one at a time. I taught you what I felt you needed to survive. You surpassed all my expectations becoming so assured, strong and determined. Many of my dreams for myself have been fulfilled through you. You took a part of me and gave it new meaning. Through your eyes I stood high on a mountain. Somehow I tried to be the image you had of me so as not to disappoint you. When in truth what I saw was a beautiful woman evolving into many of the things I had always wished for myself. Never envious, my love is always behind you as you continue to walk forward in life. Your joys are my happiness, your tears my sorrow. Climb every mountain and stand tall and free and from the valley I will look up and admire all you have become my dear daughter. Learn from mistakes made and grow in your knowledge of mankind. Show compassion, love and patience as you share yourself. Now as you take on a new role as a wife put your focus on your new life. Dedicate yourself to the man of your dreams. Be his strength when he needs it. Walk by his side and let your love for each other be your guide through times of troubles and strife. Look now through your eyes back at me, see me smiling. So proud of you, pleased at the woman you have become, loving you always. Mom
"A Mother, A Daughter" A daughter to a mother Is a mirrored image of herself She sees the same face She feels the same hurt A mother to a daughter Is a cruel reminder Of things to come She sees the same face She feels the same hurt Why, when the two stand together Can't they see The mirrored image The cruel reminder They only see authority They only see rebellion When does the distance Between them seem so far Yesterday they walked together Yesterday they talked together Two minds, one thought A mother, a daughter What makes a mother Forget that she was young She made so many mistakes She cried a stream of tears Only to land on her two feet All of it now behind her What makes a daughter Wish that she was grown Away from her mother's loving arms Standing by herself Not needing anyone Making her own choices A daughter to a Mother Is the greatest gift God gives A chance to change destiny Prove herself better The life she wished she'd lived A mother to a daughter Is a fortress to conquer A wall to climb over Prove herself better Make a life that's all her own --Author unknown
