Happy Easter Everyone!

Easter is celebrated between March 22 and April 25 and usually falls
on the first Sunday after the full moon that occurs on or following the
spring equinox, March 21. Easter is about new life. It celebrates spring
and new growth. Christians celebrate Easter as the religious holiday
commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Long ago people
celebrated Easter as a spring festival with feasting, dancing, singing
and exchanging gifts. They rejoiced over the rebirth of life. The name
Easter is thought to come from Easter, the goddess of spring and
fertility. The rabbit is a symbol of fertility. The egg is a symbol of fertility
and new life. For centuries, it has been the custom to give eggs as
gifts during the spring festival. Today we have fun dyeing them in bright
colours and decorating them with simple designs. All these customs
combine together to make our Easter today. Below are some
activities for you to enjoy.  Before that let's learn a little about what
Easter really is all about and where the bunnies, eggs and chicks
come from....

So, Where Did The Easter Bunny Come From?
You might be surprised at the origins of the Easter Bunny. Seems like
an American tradition. Here's a hint, a visit from the Easter Bunny was
only second to a visit from Christ-Kindel in this tradition.

READ THE STORY ABOUT THE EASTER TREE
A wonderful story from medieval times traces the wood of the cross on
which Jesus died, all the way back to the Garden of Paradise, where
God made grow “every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for
food.” (Genesis 2,9) The great tree of Paradise is the “tree of life.”
Seeds from the tree of life, our story goes, were planted from age to
age, until the time of Jesus, when a tree produced from one of its
seeds provided wood for his cross. Once again, God offers new life
through the cross of Jesus, his Son, and invites the human family to
return to Paradise.
Here is a story that may help a young child understand that, in spite of
appearances, the cross of Jesus brings life and not death.
